Lambertville Station Restaurant Offers Taste Test for Wine Gifts

Handmade Wine Bags and Tags from Lambertville Artist Karen Lewis are the Perfect Way to Wrap Up Your Holiday Shopping at Wine-Tasting Event

Lambertville, N.J., November 7, 2006 - A bottle of wine is a popular gift for the holidays, especially for a party host or hostess.  Lambertville Station Restaurant is hosting a special event that allows gift givers to taste their wine presents before they buy them.  The "Try Before You Buy" Wine Tasting Event will be held from 7:00-9:30 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Lambertville Station Restaurant.  Restaurant General Manager Jim Hall has hand-selected a variety of wines and sparkling wines for the event including Joseph Phelps Insignia, Flowers Chardonnay and Columbia Crest Merlot.  The wines will also be available for purchase at below retail prices by the case or half-case following the event.   And, to wrap it all up in a pretty package, local artist Karen Lewis will be on hand with custom-made wine bags and tags, also available for sale.

Lambertville Station Restaurant is located at 11 Bridge Street in Lambertville, New Jersey.  Tickets for the two-hour wine-tasting event cost $35 for advance registration and $45 at the door.  Reservations may be made by calling Lambertville Station Restaurant at (609) 397-8300.

"Guests can choose from a wide selection of 15-20 wines.  There will whites, reds and sparkling wines available, all of which are popular during this season," Hall said.

Lambertville Station specialty hors d'oeuvres will be served for guests so they can try the wines with various foods.  "It is a great opportunity for both novices and wine experts to sample small production wines, such as Joseph Phelps Insignia, Paloma Merlot, Andrew Geoffrey Cabernet and St. Innocent Pinot Noir, that are not readily available in Pennsylvania and New Jersey," said Rose DiMarco, co-owner of Lambertville Station Restaurant.  "We are thrilled to also offer winery representatives from New Jersey wine wholesale companies to lend their expertise about food and wine pairings.  We know that patrons will walk away having learned a lot," she said.

Karen Lewis, a Lambertville artist who makes window treatments and bedding, as well as hand-crafted items, will have a variety of wine bags available for sale.  "All of the wine bags will be made from hand-crafted, beautiful fabric in a classic bag design, with coordinating ribbons and tags," Lewis said.  The bags will sell for $12 each and the tags for $2.

For one-stop holiday shopping, Lambertville Station is also offering gift cards for sale.  The gift cards, which come packaged in a gold box, are available in any denomination, can be used at both the Lambertville Station Restaurant and the Inn at Lambertville Station, and have no expiration date.  Guests purchasing gift cards that evening receive 5% off when purchasing one or more gift cards totaling $500, and 10% off on gift cards totaling $1,000.

"Sipping wine and enjoying hors d'oeuvres is a nice way to do your holiday shopping," said Hall.  "With the specialty wines, the handmade wine bags and tags, and the gift cards, guests can have their gifts ready and wrapped before the evening is over.  We're aiming to make it easy, informative and enjoyable," he said.
